Design & Architecture
This is Robert Trent Jones Jr.'s first design in Vietnam -- he has designed 280+ courses in 40+ countries, including Chambers Bay (US Open 2015) and CordeValle (US Women's Open 2016). RTJ Jr. called Hoiana "one of the most spectacular sites" he had ever worked on.
Tropical Links: A rare fusion of coastal sand dune terrain (traditional Scottish/Irish links) with the tropical sunny, windy climate of Central Vietnam.

Land Restoration: Restored 23 hectares of degraded shrimp farm land to native coastal scrub vegetation without importing soil.

Signature Holes
Hole 18 -- "Cua Dai" (Par 5, 593 yards): The iconic finishing hole and longest on the course. Demands endurance and precision playing into the prevailing sea wind. The green is protected by a dramatic "lion's mouth" bunker -- a fitting finale for a links round.
Hole 16 -- "Cua Dai" (Par 4): One of Vietnam's most beautiful holes, running along white sand by the water's edge. Golfers have two options: a safe 390-yard play or a challenging 285-yard "drivable" attempt to attack the green directly for birdie.
Hole 17 -- "Cham" (Par 3): Spectacular views of the Cu Lao Cham Archipelago. Two different tee angles (from the beach and from the sand dune) provide completely different green approaches depending on wind conditions.
Holes 2-3-4: RTJ Jr. praised this sequence as "as good as anything in the world" strategically. Hole 2 tempts golfers to carry the fairway bunker for the best green approach angle.
Hole 5 (Par 3, 187 yards): Over a rugged wasteland area with a long ridgeline dune, creating an incredibly impressive sense of scale.
Hole 19 (Par 3): A bonus hole used for play-offs or settling ties between groups before entering the clubhouse.

WAAP 2025: In March 2025, Hoiana Shores successfully hosted the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) Championship for the first time in Vietnam.
