⛳ Dalat Palace Golf Club — The "Home of Golf" in Vietnam, Indochina's oldest course with over 100 years of history and Southeast Asia's only Bentgrass fairways.
Located right in the heart of Da Lat beside Xuan Huong Lake, Dalat Palace Golf Club (also known as Doi Cu) was born in 1922 under Emperor Bao Dai's vision, then rebuilt by Brett Stensen (IMG Worldwide, 1994) into an 18-hole Championship standard. This is the only golf course in Southeast Asia maintaining Bentgrass (Penn A-4) across tees, fairways, and greens — delivering a velvet-smooth ball strike and green speeds rivaling Augusta National.
📍 Location & Access
Dalat Palace Golf Club is located at 02 Tran Nhan Tong, Ward 8, Da Lat City — right in the city center, next to the poetic Xuan Huong Lake. This is the course's greatest competitive advantage: golfers can seamlessly combine golf with city exploration.
Travel times:
From Da Lat Market and downtown hotels: ~5 minutes by car.
From Lien Khuong Airport: ~30–35 minutes.
From Ho Chi Minh City: ~6–7 hours by car or 45 minutes flight to Lien Khuong.
Tourism connections: Easy to visit Bao Dai Palaces I, II, III, Da Lat Railway Station, and Truc Lam Zen Monastery after your round.
🏗️ Design & Architecture
Dalat Palace is designed in the classic Parkland style, maximizing the natural hill terrain of the Lam Vien Plateau. Brett Stensen's (IMG) philosophy is absolute respect for the original terrain — no massive land filling, but rather following the natural slopes to create winding fairways.
Design features:
Starts with a Par 3 (Hole 1) instead of the typical Par 4/5 — a difference felt immediately from the first tee shot.
After Hole 1, golfers descend into the valley and cannot see the clubhouse again until Hole 18.
Artificial lakes and natural streams appear on 10 of 18 holes, adding beauty while serving as dangerous water hazards.
Centuries-old pine ridges envelop the fairways, providing shade while acting as natural obstacles.
Continuous elevation changes between holes demand precise distance calculation for uphill and downhill shots.

🎯 Facilities & Amenities
Heritage Clubhouse (1956): Fully renovated in 1990, exuding the elegant luxury of the colonial era.
Wood-burning Fireplace: Extremely rare in Southeast Asian golf clubs. On chilly Da Lat days, golfers sit by the fire enjoying red wine after their round — a uniquely cozy, nostalgic feeling.
Outdoor Veranda: Overlooking the full course panorama with terraced fields and distant pine forests — the ideal spot to watch the finishing holes.
International Restaurant: French, European, and Vietnamese specialties. Vegetables harvested directly from local farms.
Pro Shop: Equipment from leading brands and souvenirs bearing the Dalat Palace emblem.
Practice Area: Real-grass driving range, putting green, and realistic sand traps.
Caddy Team: Professionally trained with deep knowledge of the course terrain — their advice on shot direction is crucial due to the many elevation changes and complex greens.
💡 Playing Tips at Dalat Palace
Get familiar with the greens: Spend time at the putting green because Bentgrass speed is very fast. Read lines delicately and putt lighter than usual.
Control your distances: The 1,500m elevation helps the ball fly slightly farther than normal. Adjust club selection accordingly.
Trust your caddy: They know the terrain and hidden "traps" well. Listen to their advice on shot direction, especially on holes with hidden water.
Play safe on Hole 6 (Par 5): Water runs the full left side of the fairway + OB on the right. The fairway is narrow, so a conservative strategy is smarter than trying to reach the green in two.
Best season: November to April is the ideal dry season. Early morning tee times may encounter mystical fog — beautiful but challenging.
Dress code: Da Lat is cool (15–24°C). Bring a windbreaker and thicker gloves to maintain stable swing feel.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
1. How far in advance should I book?
We recommend at least 48 hours in advance as the course is very busy, especially with Korean and Japanese guests in winter. WinGolf confirms within 15 minutes.
2. Does the green fee include caddie?
Yes. Reference prices include green fee, caddie, and 1/2 cart. Full cart rental is an additional ~500,000–800,000đ if needed.
3. Are clubs and shoes available for rent?
Yes. Full club set ~850,000đ · Golf shoes ~250,000đ. However, bringing your own clubs and shoes is recommended for the best experience on Bentgrass.
4. Any special dress code requirements?
Standard international golf dress code: collared shirt, long pants/khakis, soft-spike golf shoes. Da Lat is cool, so bring a windbreaker.
5. What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before play. Later cancellations may incur penalties per course policy. Weather-related cancellations (storms) qualify for reschedule or refund.
6. How long from Lien Khuong Airport to the course?
Approximately 30–35 minutes. WinGolf can arrange airport transfers when booking golf + hotel combos.
7. Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes. The course has 4 tee positions suitable for all skill levels. Beginners should choose the Red tee (5,555 yards) or White tee (6,114 yards). Caddies are enthusiastic guides. However, the fast greens require careful putting.
⭐ Signature Holes
Hole 5 (Par 3, 234 yards): Considered one of the hardest Par 3s in Vietnam. From the black tee, golfers must carry completely over water to reach the green. In strong plateau wind conditions, this is an extreme test of mental and technical skill.
Hole 6 (Par 5, 547 yards): Fraught with danger — water runs the entire left side of the fairway and OB hugs the right. The narrow fairway demands absolute precision from drive to approach. A conservative strategy is usually the smarter choice than attacking the green in two.
Hole 7 (Par 4, 399 yards): The challenge begins immediately at the tee, requiring a carry over two consecutive lakes. Shorter hitters can play safely to the left of the lakes, but this leaves a long uphill approach of about 180 yards.
Hole 15 (Par 4, 398 yards): The most unique feature is the system of pot bunkers (deep, steep-walled bunkers) along the right side of the fairway — a design rarely seen in Vietnam, strongly evoking traditional links courses in England and Scotland. Falling into these almost certainly costs at least one stroke to escape.
Holes 13 & 17 (Par 4, ~400 yards): Both feature strong downhill tee shots. Although the scorecard reads ~400 yards, the slope means long hitters can use an iron or fairway wood instead of driver for better control.
